Leslie Hayes Associate Director for Professional Learning New-York Historical Society

Leslie Hayes is the Associate Director for Professional Learning at the New-York Historical Society, where she leads the development and delivery of N-YHS's vast array of teacher professional learning programs. Prior to joining N-YHS, Leslie held roles in school outreach, teacher training, and public programs at the Brooklyn Collection at Brooklyn Public Library and the South Street Seaport Museum. Leslie has an MPA from NYU, an MPhil in History from Cambridge University, and a BA in History and English from Penn State.

Focus: Volunteer Recruitment & Training: Please join us and special guest speaker Vincent Deschamp, Director of Visitor Experience at the Brooklyn Children's Museum, for a conversation about volunteer recruitment and training, an area in which Vincent has much experience. He began a global research project on volunteer management, which started during his work at the Smithsonian Institution and continued through his previous position as the Visitor Experience Manager at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden in D.C. He has since published his findings Public Engagement In Volunteer Management & Visitor Services: In And Outside The United States which we are looking forward to discussing together at our meeting.
