Sarah

Sarah Burroughs Educator Turtle Back Zoo

Sarah is an Educator at the Essex County Turtle Back Zoo in NJ, specializing in family and community programs as well as access programming. She is the creator of the zoo's first Family Nature Club, which utilizes interdisciplinary and intergenerational nature play activities to encourage empathy with nature and engagement in conservation practices. Sarah also serves as a board member for the Jersey City Reservoir Preservation Alliance and remains a dedicated volunteer for a hometown organization, the Delaware Aerospace Education Foundation. 
 
Sarah has earned a B.S. in Zoo Science from Delaware Valley University and M.A. in Museum Education from The University of the Arts for which she performed original research studying collaboration and education methods between informal institutions and community-based organizations. Sarah has worked for numerous environmental, STEM, art, and historical institutions in NYC, NJ, DE, PA, and OR.

Join us for a site visit to MOCA, where we will explore the new exhibition “Chinese Medicine in America: Converging Ideas, People, and Practices” on its opening day! We will consider best practices for museums in regards to international understanding within exhibition design, interpretation, and education, and discuss how our site visit informs our opinions on these issues.
