JOB SUMMARY: The New-York Historical Society is seeking an inaugural Digital Learning Fellow to foster innovation in and lead evaluation of the opening of the Tech Commons @ New-York Historical (anticipated opening late summer 2018). The Tech Commons will be a state-of-the-art digital learning lab in which students will engage in authentic learning opportunities at the intersection of STEM and the humanities. These tech-enabled, history-driven programs seek to inspire young people, and young girls in particular, to pursue ambitious educational and career goals in the humanities and STEM fields. The Digital Learning Fellow will participate in the creation, oversight, and facilitation of digital learning programs for teens, school groups, and teachers, including researching, developing, and improving programs and working with the administrative staff of the Education department and other departments within the New-York Historical Society to assure that Tech Commons programs are of high quality and executed smoothly. The Fellow will also design, implement, analyze, and disseminate results of evaluative study/ies of the Tech Commons and its accompanying programs. S/he will participate in and lead staff trainings in digital learning technologies and pedagogy to advance the work of the entire N-YHS Education department. The Fellowship is open to PhDs in digital learning or a closely related field. Candidates with an M.A. and significant relevant work experience may also apply. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in history and familiarity with museum education. The Fellow must be available to work evening and weekend hours to facilitate and observe programs. The Fellowship will begin September 4, 2018 and will end August 31, 2020. COMPENSATION: The Fellowship is full-time, with a salary of $60,000 annually (subject to payroll taxes). This position will require the employee to lift, bend, stoop, walk, speak and stand for up to 7 hours in a day.
