Job Title: Program Director, Part-Time (Artistic Dreams International)


Description: Artistic Dreams International (ADI) is a non-profit educational organization, providing art and leadership instruction to children, ages 7-12, at the New York Public Library (NYPL) branches and NYC public schools of West Harlem. Our mission is to “create engaged and inventive future leaders to spark local to global transformation – through the arts!” We welcome each child to an artistic world of self-discovery where negative thought patterns turn into bold and creative expression. We do this by providing children a sense of belonging and FUN through the ADI curriculum, where they explore topics about self-identity, family, community and world while practicing the characteristics of a leader. Our methodology is based on positive-thinking principle where children learn to envision, believe in themselves and become active participants of the world. ADI is looking to hire a Program Director for NYC operations/programming. This is a part-time position (25 hours/week) that includes work from home as well as management of and site visits to our Saturday and afterschool/in-school program locations. The Program Director will interact frequently with the Founder/CEO and have the opportunity to participate directly in the organization’s expansion efforts. He or she must be highly organized and pay attention to detail as successful program implementation depends on the efficacy of the Program Director. The successful candidate will be a creative and culturally competent collaborator with international experience, ready to be directly involved in change within a child’s life, family, community, and world! Responsibilities: -- Weekly meetings with CEO/Founder (who resides in Mexico) -- Interview, hire, train and supervise teachers and teaching assistants -- Management of all NYC programming – Saturday and Afterschool/In-School -- Manage partnerships with program sites (NYPL branches; schools) -- Review all location lesson plans and provide feedback -- Review staff timesheets and invoices to verify hours/compensation with CEO/Founder -- Upload and share all photos, lesson plans & admin docs through Google Drive and/or Dropbox -- Register all program participants and log information in parent database -- Manage and update sponsorship and materials budgets -- Manage supply inventories for locations -- Recruitment of program participants; outreach to neighboring schools -- Manage and update site rosters and attendance sheets -- Weekly emails and/or calls to parents, staff and program sites -- Pursue in-kind donation options -- Communicate with marketing/social media officer regarding promotion of programming -- Coordinate and plan culminating exhibitions at community venues -- Coordinate organization’s participation at community events and festival -- Create program flyers and job posting descriptions -- Pick up mail from P.O. Box monthly -- Weekly calls with all instructors -- Coordinate and lead monthly staff meetings -- Attend grant or community meetings -- Assist in drafting grant proposals Qualifications: -- Master’s in Education, Arts Education or Administration preferred -- At least one full year of supervisory experience is required -- Teaching experience in elementary education and/or arts field/discipline is required -- Experience creating and implementing student, teacher, and program evaluations and assessments -- Strong written and verbal communication skills -- Interest, dedication, and enthusiasm for improving a community through arts education -- Excellent interpersonal skills, comfort in interacting with parents and partnership/school contacts -- Must be available to work evenings and weekends -- Must be able to travel to sites for observation visits and drop off of materials -- Must be available for monthly evening staff meetings Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google/Gmail/Drive -- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) a plus -- Interest in International Education/Program Expansion a plus -- Knowledge of the NYC school system a plus
