Bronx Children’s Museum

Organization Description: 
Bronx Children’s Museum is now a “museum with and without walls” and serves almost 18,000 Bronx residents annually. The Museum uses innovative mobile programming to engage children and adults in the arts and sciences. The museum also creates temporary exhibits and serves after-school and summer needs throughout the Bronx at community-based organizations, schools, shelters, libraries, local festivals and parks. The Museum has partnered with the City of New York to create a permanent home in a former powerhouse along the Harlem River in the South Bronx that will enable it to serve 75,000 children per year. Position Description:
We are looking for an experienced educator who can guide children and their families through our Arts & STEAM Programs accomplishing these basic tasks:
*Be a positive, upbeat, community driven individual who enjoys working with children and multi-tasking. 
*Guide and engage children and families in various Arts & Steam activities or projects
*Assist with set-up, cleanup, and daily logistics of programs
*Organize and storing materials on site
*Sustain a clean storage space on site
*Serve as a representative of the Bronx Children’s Museum through various points of contact in the community

Arts or STEAM Program Manager

*The hours and schedule of this position will be part-time and vary depending on programs and programming requirements. Opportunities for additional hours based on skills, interest and need
*Travel to outreach events and off-site schools within the Bronx is required
*Some weekend and/or evening work will be required
*This position is a busy, fast paced job that requires someone who is comfortable moving around a lot
*Looking to fill this position ASAP

Candidate Qualifications:
We hope you:
*Have a commitment and passion for the Bronx Children’s Museum mission
*Have a love and enthusiasm for working with children and their families
*Have prior experience working with young children in a formal or informal education setting; ideally 3 years
*Have a background or strong interest in education 
*Have at least a HS Diploma or A.A. (ideally) in education, the arts, science or a related field
*Have passion for education and learning 
*Have strong written and verbal communication as well as critical thinking skills
*Are warm, friendly, and outgoing
*Are willing to learn new skills and grow into a position of leadership within the department
*Are attentive to detail, willing to learn, and team oriented
*Are bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
