Position Description:
The American Folk Art Museum seeks an experienced Museum Educator fluent in Spanish to develop and deliver tours for PreK–12, family and adult audiences, both online and in person at our 2 Lincoln Square location.

Director of Learning and Engagement

Job Requirements & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
– Develop, lead, and evaluate 45 minute exhibition and collection-based virtual tours in Spanish, live on Zoom and recorded for the museum’s video streaming platforms.
– Develop, lead, and evaluate 45–60 minute educational tours and workshops in Spanish (both virtual and in-person) for PreK-12, family and adult audiences.
– Teach a weekly, one-hour afterschool Teen Leader Program (in-person) with NYC high school students, October 2022-May 2023.
– Attend curatorial walkthroughs and perform exhibition and collection research

Requirements:
– Bilingual: fluent in Spanish and English
– Proficiency with Powerpoint and Zoom presentations
– Undergraduate degree in art education, studio art, art history, or equivalent
– Ability to teach inquiry- and object-based lessons that are interactive and developmentally appropriate for a diverse range of students, including PreK-12 students and students with different learning needs and varying museum experiences
– Strong written and verbal communication skills
– Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
– The American Folk Art Museum requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Hours and Compensation:
– This is a contractual position, hours will vary.
– Teaching rate: $400 per Spanish-language exhibition video produced; $200 per Teen Leader Program.
– Hourly research rate: $50 per hour.

Candidate Qualifications:
–  Bilingual: fluent in Spanish and English
