Caitlyn Clemmer
Conservation Educator
Wildlife Conservation Society
Statement of Interest:
As a current board member I am interested in taking on a new position that challenges me! The past two years I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the board! I have learned new skills in event planning, and made great connections with different audiences and institutions. My collaborative spirit and strategic mindset make me a great fit for a role designed to reach members far and wide!
Goals for NYCMER:
I hope to gain more experience connecting and meeting individuals across different institutions and hear their stories and what they bring to their community. I want NYCMER to focus on inclusion and accessibility, potentially hold workshops in creating social narratives, and how to set up a access program at their institution.
Professional Experience:
I have a Master Degree in Environmental Conservation Education from NYU, I did my thesis surrounding New York City public school teachers and their students connection to nature after participating in a community science program. This was apart of a year research project where I was able to lead teacher workshops as a follow up to my program. I am currently a Program Coordinator at the Wildlife Conservation Society based at the New York Aquarium. I have been an educator for the Bronx Zoo, United States Peace Corps, Camp Schooner in CT, Lady Bird Johnson Wild Flower Center, and Houston Parks and Recreation.
Specific Skills:
I have skills in event planning, coordinating events and programs, networking, leading a team, and collaborating with individuals.
