Statement of Interest:

NYCMER has allowed me to network with so many amazing educators working in museums and related fields. I would like to continue serving on the board so that I can collaboratively develop events that allow educators to make connections and share knowledge among their peers.

Goals for NYCMER:

I strongly support NYCMER’s networking and professional development events that bring education professionals from a wide array of institutions together to learn and connect. I believe learning from the experiences of educators at other institutions allows our field to grow and develop in new and exciting ways.

Professional Experience:

I hold a bachelor's degree and master's in art education and museum studies from Grand Valley State University and the University of Nebraska at Kearney respectively. I started my museum career at the Flint Institute of Arts in Flint, Michigan where I worked for six years as an art educator. Since then I have worked as the arts integration educator at the Intrepid Museum and currently serve as a learning specialist at the Museum of Modern Art. Last year was my first year on the NYCMER board where I helped plan events like the NYCMER Holiday Party and served on the finance committee.

Specific Skills:

With my program planning experience from my time as a museum educator, I hope to continue planning engaging events where NYCMER members can connect and learn together. Having experience managing program budgets I hope to continue serving on NYCMER’s finance committee to help ensure the organization continues its financial health.
