Goals for NYCMER:

NYCMER plays an important role in providing professional development to members of a field who are often not awarded these development opportunities at work. I would like to continue NYCMER’s work to help museum professionals advocate for themselves and their team. NYCMER also creates a real community where museum educators can exchange knowledge and support each other. I would like to create more of these spaces and moments for connection.

 

Professional Experience: 

I am a museum professional with seven years of experience in exhibition management and visitor engagement. My educational background is in Chinese and maritime archaeology. I have a BA from Bucknell University in Comparative Humanities, Chinese, and Economics, and a MPhil in Archaeology from Oxford University. I lived in China for three years working as a teacher, and it is in Hong Kong that I first volunteered for the Hong Kong Maritime Museum and fell in love with museums.

 

Specific Skills:

As Exhibitions Manager at the Rubin Museum, I have managed fifteen exhibitions and projects with an annual budget of $3 million, designing project schedules, managing installations, and leading cross-team exhibition development meetings. In my previous role as Gallery Educator for Public Programs at the Museum of Us, I managed all aspects of PostSecret Live, a 500+ attendee event that generated $9.5k in revenue. 

 

Outside of work, I volunteer as a member of the Community Committee for the National Emerging Museum Professionals Network, hosting book clubs, trivia nights, and other online events. I also volunteered as a member of the NYCMER Conference Committee in 2022 and 2023. In my free time, I am a proud curler, an avid board game player and a mediocre salsa dancing; I would love to take NYCMER members curling in Brooklyn in the future.
