Exploring MoMA’s “remixed” permanent collections
When MoMA reopened in October, the museum debuted reorganized permanent collection galleries that deviate from their previous practice of organizing artwork chronologically and by medium. The redesign is intended to increase diversity and invite greater comparison among different eras, art forms, and parts of the world. We will explore the 5th floor galleries, “Collection: 1880s-1940s,” examine some of the display styles and interpretive techniques that MoMA is using, and discuss how we can reexamine and remix our own collections for greater impact and engagement.
Meet in the lobby near the 54th Street entrance. Admission is free for Uniqlo Free Fridays.
To RSVP, please email Exhibitions and Interpretations Peer Group Coordinator, Tori Lewis.
