Position Description:
Working across the Department of Education and Public Engagement, under the guidance of the Director, School, Youth, and Family Programs, the Museum Educator position will support the goals and priorities of the department by engaging with the public as facilitators of creative learning and experience. Through developing curriculum, leading tours and workshops, and implementing programs for students of all ages, this role will apply our pedagogical approach to inquiry-based teaching.

Job Requirements & Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
– Working as a team to develop curricula and assessments for workshops, tours, and programs for education department audiences and partners
– Provide support for on-site programs, including greeting/navigating visitors, arranging spaces, as well as ordering and maintaining supplies
– Leading tours, in-gallery programs, workshops, classes, camps, and trainings for youth, adult, family, university, and community partners, in the galleries and Engleberg Center
– Attend departmental meetings and workshops
– Liaising with group representatives both pre- and post-visit to plan and assess content and experience
– Develop a solid understanding of the Guggenheim’s core collection and temporary exhibitions while applying our pedagogical approach to inquiry teaching
– Develop interpretive materials for a wide range of audiences
Candidate Qualifications:
– Background in Visual Art, Art History, Education or a related field preferred
– Desire to work with students of all ages, including adult learners
– Deep interest in and passion for the arts
– Flexible, team player with excellent speaking and interpersonal skills
– Ability to self-reflect and fine-tune practice
– Knowledge of learning theory and inquiry-based pedagogy
– Knowledge of child development
– Excellent organizational and time management skills
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
– Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities
– Excellent attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment is a must
– Ability to be proactive, use independent judgment and initiative
– Experience in studio teaching a plus
– Fluency in either Spanish, German, Italian, French, or Mandarin is preferred
– Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
